I regret to inform of the passing of my father, Captain David H. Quinn, Jr,  on 05 August 2013.

He fought the good fight against Parkinson's , but was truly ready to fly west.

Survived by my mother, Jo Ann Quinn; 2 children, Paul Quinn and Laura Bueermann; and 3 grandchildren.

Born 01 July 1931 in Evanston, IL.  Raised in San Mateo and later the suburbs of Philadelphia, he was the son of a WWI Naval Aviator.  Graduated Stanford University in 1953 with a degree in History and Geography, and a commission in the United States Air Force.  He retired from the USAF-R in 1981 as a Lt Colonel, having flown T-33, U-3,  C-97, C-119, C-47, and T-39 aircraft (among other duties).
Of course my father's deepest career passion was his employ with Pan American.  Hired 20 September, 1956 (interestingly the exact same date as my hire with United Airlines -- I am a First Officer A320 in SFO), he served on DC-4, DC-6, DC-6B, B-377, B-707, and B-747.  On PAC day he transferred to UAL, and flew as Captain on "The Rope Start" B-747 until his retirement in 1991.

My father loved his family, his pets, his career, and his country.  One could also include international cuisine, spirits, and laughter.
We grieve but recognize that, the final check ride complete--he is enjoying cobalt blue skies above, fair weather below, tailwinds, and the comraderie of those who have preceded him westbound.

The family asks that any donations be made to:  Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Fisher House Foundation, Inc, or The Marin Humane Society.

Thank you.

Paul G. Quinn
