Remembering Those Who Have Gone Before

Phil Baron lost his courageous, long hard fought battle with cancer on May 20, 2015. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 8, 1935 to Mary & Charles Baron. Phil was a hard working young man and put himself through school. He attended the University of Toledo. He entered the Navy in 1955 and became a fighter pilot which he loved tremendously.  Phil lived in Reno for the past several years but moved to California in order to be close to his treatment facility.  He was an active member of St Rose of Lima parish in Reno and the Knights of Columbus. He loved the game of golf and was a member of the Montreaux Golf club.He met the love of his life and married her Betty Beaudrot in 1959. They spent 56 happy years together. He is survived by Betty, their three children, Theresa (Dennis) Fuller, Julie (Dave Evans and Michael (Dawn) Baron, and his 6 grandchildren; Lyndsey, Lauren & Jordan Evans and Cody, Katelynn & Colton Baron who loved him and will miss him very much. He also leaves his sisters; Karen Curley and Mary Ellen Korinek, brother David Baron and lastly, his best buddy, his faithful dog Oliver, who never left his side.

He left the Navy in 1965 and moved the family from Florida to California to become an airline pilot for Pan American World Airways flying out of San Francisco. They raised their family in San Jose where they had many cherished friends. He had many hobbies; camping, fishing, hunting, snow skiing & sailing on the Duchess. Phil flew internationally for 20 years. When Pan Am closed its doors, he then flew for United Airlines until he retired in 1995. Phil and Betty enjoyed his retirement years playing golf, bridge and spending time with family. In 2012 his health started to decline, they then moved from Reno to Roseville to be closer to family and his doctors. The family wants to thank Dr. Helen Chew and Hospice of UC Davis for their wonderful care of Phil during his illness!

A Rosary will be held at Chapel of the Valley on May 25th from 5-7 pm. A Catholic mass in celebration of his life will be held at St. Clare’s Catholic Church in Roseville on May 26th at 11:30 am.
